AV System Tune Up? Yep, It Requires Maintenance Too

Have you ever been enjoying company at your house, sipping wine, listening to jazz music play through your outdoor speakers when all of a sudden the music stops. There is an awkward silence in the air and you apologize to your guests as you fiddle with your remote, check plugs, and end up accepting the sound of crickets chirping as your background noise. This can all be avoided with a simple system tune up to make sure you are getting the best quality out of your system.

When preparing for a big party at your home, make sure that a system tune up is on your to do list. How is your sound and picture quality? Does anything seem like it’s not functioning properly? Most of the time you’ll be able to pinpoint specific irregularities, but if not, give Choice Control Audio Video a call. We’ll assess your entire system and make any necessary corrections along the way so your party goes smoothly and without a hitch.

First things first; we will use the remotes you use to test operation of every component in your system. This could be as simple as testing to make sure the number buttons work on your universal remote or as complex as doing a "party mode" test with music in every room of your home or giving a dedicated theater room a work out with the projector and surround sound system. Motorized screens or shades? We can check those too!

Other things we will do to ensure your system is at top performance include firmware/software updates on all of your connected devices such as video game systems (PS4, XBoxONE, WiiU), Smart TVs (all brands), music and movie streaming devices such as AppleTV, Roku, Sonos and more. Whenever possible we will correct any issues and minor problems on site. Often times, weird glitches can be attributed to minor menu adjustments or firmware updates. Sometimes problems require upgrading other supporting services like your internet equipment. Worst case scenario would be replacing failed equipment that is not repairable. Be sure to schedule a system tune up a few weeks before your party to account for any time needed for repairs or to replace components.

In addition to testing how your system works, keeping your equipment clean and cool helps prolong it's life. A system tune up with Choice Control Audio Video includes dusting your AV equipment and cleaning your TV screens. It may seem silly, but you won't have to worry about something not working after our visit. When a professional cleans your equipment, it will all still work properly afterwards. Lastly, we will test batteries in remotes and confirm that rechargeable batteries do indeed charge.

Now that you know the importance of a system tune up you’ll never have to worry about the music stopping at quarter ‘til midnight on New Year's Eve!
